What does a Functional Committee Chair Do?

@brandon dudley (Unlicensed)

Brandon gave an overview:

  • Functional committee chairs are a liaison between staff working in specific functional areas and COLD. There should be regular communication in some format between the committees and the Chairs. Chairs lead the committees but are not expected to do all of the work.

  • Brandon and John are interested in having the Steering Committee focus more on strategic, big picture discussion. We probably won’t do committee updates at each meeting, but we will expect monthly reports from the chairs about what is happening and what they are working on.

  • Committee chairs are confident that they are ready for the year

  • John, Brandon, Christina are a resource of any questions or concerns arise. John would like this to be collaborative group where and committee member can come to the group with questions

2:00-2:15

August 8 Meeting Fullerton

@brandon dudley (Unlicensed)

  • Registration is almost closed. It is possible that a couple of slots will open up.

  • Send final session titles to Brandon if he doesn’t have them yet

  • Function Committee Chairs can use the Group Meetings as an opportunity to meet face-to-face with people in their areas. A good time to discuss and define annual priorities

  • Sessions will be recorded on Zoom, but no live streaming

  • It should be possible for someone to present via Zoom

  • No Steering committee meeting scheduled, but John invites the Steering Committee to join him at lunch

2:15-2:30

Ex Libris Support Webinar

@brandon dudley (Unlicensed)

Ex Libris has offered to do a webinar for CSU employees. Maybe more than one. Brandon doesn’t want it to be a sales presentation. Nor does he want to be just a complaint session. What topics would lead to the most productive discussion and practical improvements for ULMS staff?

Action Item

Send your proposed topics to Brandon by July 19, next Friday.

Follow-up on unfinished business from 18/19

@John Wenzler @brandon dudley (Unlicensed)

  • Enhancement Report – Suzanna Conrad from Sac State has written a report as last year’s at-large member of the steering committee. Brandon will share with this committee when ready.

- Fullerton

- Humboldt

- Los Angeles

- San Marcos

- Dominguez Hills

  • Bad Books Resource Sharing Policy: Policy was developed and approved by last year’s RS functional committee. Next steps:

    • Joe will email policy to Steering Committee. Unless someone tells John that additional discussion is needed, John will consider it approved by the Steering Committee one week after Joe shares it

    • After Steering Committee Approval, John will figure out most appropriate way to get through COLD (this will probably require minimal discussion)
