Walk-In Users Meeting

  • Plan meeting with RSFC.

    • Contacted Natalya for a joint meeting to discuss walk-in patrons. Whoever is interested can join their meeting on Thursday at 3pm or invite them to join our meeting next week. Instructions are available on the wiki: Cal State Walk-in User (Visiting Patrons) Workflow

  • Review workflow

    • Have to set to CalState Walkin Patrons as the User Group.

    • User-initiated requests - have to change the user record from External to Internal, which severs the link to the home campus.

      • Need User Manager role to update the patron account information to Internal to create a password for the local OneSearch instance to where the user wishes to place requests.

      • And don’t forget to allow the Walkin user group as a whole to place requests, too!

      • Staff will need to check Walkin Patrons regularly to make sure that the expiration dates are up-to-date. “Find Usser in Other Institution” will re-link the patron account and flip the account back to External, so staff will need to re-enable Internal account status.

    • Staff-initiated requests - NOT set up to allow login to OneSearch. In remote work, you can set up a Google/LibWizard form, prompt the user to email the circ dept, etc. Set up for working as an on-site workflow too.

    • Setting up the Walkin Patrons to do contactless pickup only - how can you set this up?

      • Depends on the way you’ve set up your workflow. If you’ve set up a separate library for lockers versus other pickup, you can not allow them to have a pickup location in that library.

    • Didn’t break down how to add the configurations for individual libraries’ fulfillment & unit rules in this documentation. Each institution will have to decide what your loan periods are going to be for checking out, which libraries to request from, which items they can request, etc.

    • Jamie will email Natalya to invite RSFC to attend our FFC meeting next week.
