Reserve Analytics Update
  • Members of the FFC met to go over the reports Jaime and Mallory created. The group found that the numbers coming out of the reports were not as helpful as first thought.
  • Mallory & Matthew met to take a closer look at the numbers. Analytics sometimes has a hard time summing the measures, which makes it difficult to get accurate total number of the courses, for example.
  • Analytics is not good at giving a snapshot of your Alma structure.
  • Possible unique fields, such as Reading List code, we can use to create reports.
  • Matthew created a report of course reserve loans vs. total loans per campus over the past 365 days. The report is in the shared analytics unverified folder.
  • Mallory, Jaime, and Matthew will continue to work on reports.
CalState Walkin Recommendations
  • Natasha updated the recommendation document based on our testing.
  • Cathe will move the document to the team drive.
  • Action item: The group will read through the document again for discussion at the next meeting.

Offline Circulation

Purging user history/attachments

  • Cathe asked the group if anyone was anonymizing loans and requests, and setting retention dates for attachments.
  • She discovered that anonymized loans no longer show up in Primo (and actually she didn’t even know you could see your loan history in Primo!
  • SJSU sets loan anonymization at 180 days. There are more benefits to anonymization than keeping the history for the patron. There are other ways, such as setting favorites, for the patron to keep the history.
  • Fresno sets loan anonymization as a specific number of loans.
  • SJSU keeps last 2 loans.
  • LA & Fresno purging letters after 1 year.
  • Possible topic for future open forums – anonymizations, viewing loan history in OneSearch, favorites.
  • Mallory mentioned that patron privacy and anonymization are important to COLD. FFC should be doing the research to find out how anonymization works.
  • Cathe, Christine, and Natasha will be investigating and experimenting and then we can form a task force to draft recommendations.
Damaged Books for Resource Sharing
  • The discussion about how to handle damaged items sent through CSU+, either damage found prior to loaning and upon returning at the borrowing institution.
  • Collaborate with RS functional group to discuss criteria, and possible create acceptable standards.
  • Cathe will follow-up with Chris Lee.
  • Jaime & Natasha volunteered to be on a task force with members of the RS group.
