For those with Bursar integration, how do you prevent patrons from checking out items until fines are paid?
Troy (San Diego) says they don't normally block checkouts because they know the student will have to pay their fine or it will go to collection. If they do want to block (e.g. expensive equipment), he will place a manual block on account.
Issue of too many popups and that are cleared when another item is scanned and the scanned in item is not checked in.
SLO and San Jose have worked around this by not doing check-ins (other than hourly items) at the circ desk and having the check-in person take a load of returns to a quiet, uninterrupted spot so the person scanning can concentrate on watching the screen.
