  • Continue to address CDI implementation issues as needed

CDI NZ Reccomendations

  •  ERM recommends that the consortia hold off turning on CDI Search for Network Zone collections because:

    • all NZ “link in record” type Database records will become discoverable in every campus OneSearch instance, regardless of subscription status.

    • This issue has been brought to Ex Libris’ attention; ERM will periodically check on the link in record database type functionality with CDI. If link in record Database bibliographic records can be suppressed and still work, we will revisit the issue of turning NZ collections for CDI search.

  • ERM recommends that for aggregator collections where the campus does not subscribe to all content, each campus should tick the “We subscribe to only some titles in this collection” in both NZ and IZ collections to avoid false full-text available flags.

  • ERM recommendation on the issue duplicate ebook records between the CDI and local index: each campus must decide whether to turn CDI off for search for NZ and IZ ebook collections.

    • There is a “suppress” option in the CDI tab in the electronic collection editor – it is called “Do not show as Full Text available in CDI even if active in Alma”. The effect of ticking this option is that the ebook records are not published to CDI anymore.

    • If you suppress NZ and IZ ebook collections for CDI you will eliminate ebook record duplication in OneSearch [where there is both a CDI and a local index record for the same item, using the same access link], but you will also lose ebook chapter level indexing from the CDI

    • If you don’t suppress NZ and IZ ebook collections for CDI, you will have chapter level indexing for ebooks, but you will also have duplicate ebook record entries for the CDI and local indexes.

    • ERM believes this should not be a long term solution. Ex Libris should find a long-term solution to eliminate duplicate ebook records between CDI and local indexes.
