How is everyone doing post fire-related closures?RSFC
  • Everyone is open now. Yay! Major backlogs for processing items.
  • There appears to be a need to create a guide for extended closures
  • Meghann will e-mail campuses to see what their experiences were during the fire-related closures to inform what goes in this guide.
    • Did it work well to have Tricor keep your shipments?
    • Did anyone hold shipments?
    • What’s the preferences with borrowing?
Walk In Patron Joint Task ForceChris Lee (Unlicensed)
  • Natasha is the volunteer from the FFC.
  • Joseph Adkins (Unlicensed) will work with Natasha on this.
  • Data Sharing PSA (Joe)
  • Mallory will send the latest email to Joe connecting him and Natasha.
Review Holiday ClosuresChris Lee (Unlicensed)
  • Holiday Closures (last years)
  • Everyone agrees that turning off expiration is the best way to handle this
  • Double check calendars for correct closed dates
  • When people won’t be there before the library actually closes what do we do? Keep shipping? There doesn’t seem like a good way to track who is closed/on vacation when. Committee agreed: campus-by-campus responsibility to inform your driver of when you are closed
Update on chaos caused by November release (marking RS things lost)Mallory DeBartolo (Unlicensed)
  • Stuff was being marked lost when it shouldn’t have been marked lost. This marked the borrowing request, lending request and item at the lending institution lost.
  • There is some cleanup that needs to be done
Analytics/RS task force - any requests?Mallory DeBartolo (Unlicensed)
  • (Meghann) Put date ranges in the dashboard - it seems unclear
    • Add date range selections for all reports
  • (Joe) Borrowing title reports with LC call number - did it in the NZ and it looks pretty good but it would be cool since we do have the NZ if Borrowing by LC class
    • Useful for selectors - would like to see specification of date range
Blocks on items that are requested by RS but someone local wants to checkoutMallory DeBartolo (Unlicensed)
  • Applies to the scenario where a CSU+ request is made but a local patron brings the item to the desk to check out before the request is processed. The request needs to be overridden in order for the local patron to check out the item. But the correct block preferences need to be in place for that to happen. Someone needs to investigate granularity of blocks.
  • Cancelling the request before it’s checked out to the patron is the best way to go. But not all circ people have the ability to do that.
  • The problem with Joe lies with the item being routed to the temporary location of RS Long Loan. He was going to make up a case but then didn’t and everything is fine with the item now.
  • Sounds as though this scenario is not very common - does anyone recall this actually happening (aside from Joe)?
  • Who wants to draft a recommendation to post to the wiki and e-mail to the Access and ISPIE lists?!  No volunteers at this meeting, address at a later date.
  • Mallory will ask the fulfillment folks to find out if this happens very often or causes problems to see if it’s worth the trouble of documenting anything.
Should we send a PSA reminder on some best practices?Chris Lee (Unlicensed)
  • Media in boxes, plastic bags for rain, etc.
  • Lots of variables there - the “rainy season” in Humboldt goes essentially from now until April. Some campuses (UCs perhaps) send all kinds of things in plastic bags because stuff sits outside potentially in the rain.
  • Something to think about but not particularly pressing
Discovery Task ForceJoseph Adkins (Unlicensed)
  • Wanting to replace the entire Get it/View it window. Very ambitious.
  • One single “smart” request button - you press it and if something is available via CSU+ it brings you to that request form but if not it directs you to ILLiad.
  • Meghann: can you please bring up the notification that a request has been made larger?
  • Send any ideas, no matter how wild to Joe
