All –

 

Today’s update will touch upon the following topics:

 

  • Ring out the test phase, ring in the final load
  • Introducing Anya Arnold, Resource Sharing consultant extraordinaire
  • New Primo videos on search available
  • Campus Visits
  • ERM Update
  • Working Group policies, procedures and goals on Confluence
  • Confluence is there for you!

 

** End of Test Load is nigh. Final load begins in early April **

 

It’s true! The official end of the Alma/Primo test phase is scheduled for next Friday, March 31. By then, your library should be largely finished with data testing, with large-scale configuration changes and be addressing training and associated concerns. That said, libraries will still be able to test and make changes right up to the submission of your ILS data for final load in May.

 

Looking ahead, campuses will be moving towards completing a final round of migration forms and Alma Checklists during April. May will bring submission of those forms, all of your ILS data and the beginning of the technical freeze.

 

We are expecting a detailed cutover plan from Ex Libris within the next week, which will be shared widely. In the meantime, high-level details about the final load process are available on Confluence by group:

** Anya Arnold **

 

We have a new addition to the ULMS Implementation Team! Anya Arnold will be joining the CO team as a consultant, focused primarily on Alma resource sharing implementation and planning. She also plans to lend a hand with ILLiad and INN-Reach questions as time allows. She comes to us with several years of experience working with library consortia on interlibrary loan and resource sharing implementations and operations, and was the Program Manager at Orbis Cascade when they moved to Alma/Primo responsible for implementing their resource sharing functionality.

 

We are excited to have her and hope that you get a chance to meet her soon, virtually if not in person, and will share her CSU contact information once available.

 

** New Ex Libris Primo videos available **

 

Check out the new Using Primo videos that demonstrate searching in the new Primo Interface, and provide an overview on how Primo works: http://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Training/Using_Primo.

 

The 22 minute “Using Primo” video demonstrates how to conduct searches, refine results, and how to evaluate and access the resources in the results.  Included are how to save, print, and email citations, and access your account information. The second “How Primo Works” 24 minute video demonstrates discovery, delivery, and optimization, and how library collections and e-resources are presented in Primo.  Each video has an accompanying summary handout.

 

** Summary of Sarina and Mallory’s campus visits **

 

Over the course of the spring, Sarina and Mallory created and delivered custom one-day workshops based on questions and scenarios received from interested campuses. Topics covered included workflow assessment and training, configuration troubleshooting and data migration questions with plenty of time for formal and informal Q & A.

 

Each workshop was accompanied by documentation of topics discussed along with instructions, screenshots, links to Ex Libris help articles and follow up notes based on questions asked during the workshop.

If your campus was not among the lucky few to receive a visit, never fear! Sarina and Mallory plan to share their notes, documentation and other items useful to a majority of campuses on Confluence once compiled.  

 

** Update from the E-Resource Management Task Force **

 

The ERM Task Force has completed checklists meant to guide campuses with preparing their electronic resources for the final load. They are available on Confluence:

** Working Group policies, procedures and goals on Confluence **

 

If you haven’t heard, final versions of policies and procedures developed by each working group are available in their Confluence spaces. Please check there for any questions you might have regarding decisions that have been made about working in Alma and Primo. Each working group and task force have posted their goals for the rest of implementation and status reports on their progress on their home pages.
