Announcements/Updates

All

  • @Christine Holmes asked about the video icon being different at Sacramento than other institutions. @Christian Ward (Unlicensed) will investigate.

  • @David Walker mentioned that we need to communicate to the discovery group about the Audio/Video resource type conversation. @Christian Ward (Unlicensed) will send open forum slides to @David Walker who will send an email to the discovery list.

Central package review

Christian and David

  • David removed several elements that caused issues with Primo VE functionality

    • Custom link resolver removed

  • Updated CP functionality to hide links in the links section of the full record details

Norm Rules

Christian & David

  • Israel did not received much feedback from campuses regarding the General Notes norm rule changes. He created the new field in the NZ and pushed it out to the IZs. Sent an email to Discovery and TS email lists with a description of the rule and instructions for folks to add to their IZ views.

  • The Task Force is also going to role out new fields to support the separate display of serial and non-serial Publication Dates in the brief display.  This is something we previously had in place in Primo BO.

  • @David Walker is also going to offer to update campus views to include the new Notes field and serial/non-serial Publication Date field

    • @David Walker will send email to the discovery list asking if folks want the publication date change to be put it in place.

Online documentation

All

  • We continue to update and add content to the wiki

  • Should we redesign the wiki content? If so, how?

    • Hannah and Julie agreed to review the content on the discovery site to:

      • Identify out-of-date content

      • Provide recommendations for organization

    • Overall the group agreed that a human centered design approach for organizing the content would yield better results. @Christian Ward (Unlicensed) will survey the discovery group to determine their needs for the site.

    • The pages listing is not consistent with the organization of the home page. Needs to be updated.

    • Visual indicators for the type of content may help users locate configuration information.

Primo/Primo VE Search Scope Evaluation

Gabriel Garner

  • Gabriel Gardner and Heather Cribbs have been working on this and have preliminary results.

  • Gabriel was scheduled to provide an update at this meeting, but was unable to attend.

  • Rescheduled for next DFC meeting.

Open Forum Topics

All

  • The group discussed several possible topics for the next open forum, and felt that surveying the discovery community would help determine open forum topics.

  • Suggested topics include:

    • Relevancy ranking

    • Managing Primo VE updates

    • Adding Citation Styles to Primo

    • Audio/Video Resource Type

    • Unpaywall

    • Dedup/FRBR issues

    • CDI Issues

    • Archival Material as a Resource Type

Slack vs. Teams

All

  • The discovery community seems to be in favor with staying on slack and using confluence to record organizational memory. A more formal poll could be taken to determine the overall climate.

    • The group did not discuss this item.

New Items

All

  • @brandon dudley (Unlicensed) asked to group to begin steering the larger conversation from Primo VE implementation to functionality. Is Primo VE meeting our functional needs? This is in preparation for Brandon’s upcoming Ex Libris satisfaction survey.

  • @Ian Chan (Unlicensed) suggested we start thinking about NERS voting prep.

  • Julie raised the issue of the CDI Archival Material resource type affecting local items.@brandon dudley (Unlicensed) remarked this could be due to the OOTB norm rule for resources type using the ldr to determine resource type. The affected records appear to be coded in a way that assigns the wrong resource type. The group discussed and will test to determine the exact issue.
