• Updates from December Digital Repositories Steering Committee meeting

  • Subcommittee working on call for submissions

  • December DAWG meeting was cancelled

  • Will begin a report on the state of the DAMS project in the new year

• Updates from the Work Forms Task Force (Dave sent these via email):

  • Have met four times, and are working through some proposed changes to the forms.  We’re planning some longer meetings in the new year to make faster progress.

  • Dave plans to present a set of proposed changes to MWG for feedback at the Jan. 20 MWG meeting.

  • Author (coming next; Melissa has a formula ready to go and Dave is working on automated solution. We’ll go over these during our January MWG meeting)

• Pam suggested that we could work on clean-up together to get things started, and we discussed the fact that no one has had time to start on Title clean-up. Melissa will provide a demo of batch editing for the Title clean-up during the January Open Forum and talk to Dave about creating a standing opportunity for project managers to co-work.

Revisit 2020-2021 Degree Name Recommendation

• Background information

  • Recommendation from last year: Change help text to “Enter degree name in capital letters with a period after each letter.  For example, M.A. or M.S.”

• Melissa completed an https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MDime5vhy5XuaZeo8GTcGkZFn3H4y6Pu-WaNhZYfHvY/edit?usp=sharing and she and Ryan met to discuss it. They shared their recommendations:

  • Carry forward the MWG’s recommendation for Degree Name from last year (i.e., to abbreviate degree name and leave free-text)

  • Create a new, free-text field for Program Name

    • Shared example of Digital Commons record with separate Degree Name and Program Name fields: Expression of pannexin1 in brain metastases derived from lung cancer

    • Noted that we may not want to include Program Name for non-ETD student works (once we have a separate work form for those)

    • We will revisit this during January’s MWG meeting with the rest of the group who weren’t able to make this meeting.
