Goals
CSU+ Loan Period project: We informed our community of our plans. They didn’t seem too have much feedback. A few reports of anecdotal evidence of re-requests and due date scofflaws. Two suggestions came out of this: Work with Fulfilment people because of media concerns and use analytics to gather relevant data to support anecdotal evidence. Where do we go from here?
Publicizing “Long Overdues” guide: Joe Gerdeman was going to publicize this guide (CSU+ Items Lost or Overdue ) but was unable to because the guide was too confusing. If an RSFC member is confused by the guide, the rest of our community likely will be as well. We don’t want any confusion about this so any and all issues with the Long Overdues guide need resolved before moving on. Another question, should this even be part of the Lost CSU+ Items guide or should it be a separate guide entirely? Are we hiding stuff on our Confluence space by cramming a bunch of stuff under one headline?
Completed but never Received: A new analytics report can find items that were Completed by never Received by Partner. These are dead requests and the patron never got the book or a cancellation email. This is the worst CSU+ request outcome. Lets brainstorm what we can do about this.
Request Cleanup jobs: Never made progress on this from last time. Lets discuss how to move forward. Will most our people have the necessary roles to run resource sharing oriented jobs? Do we know any jobs experts that could help with creating custom jobs (clean up of ILLiad NCIP borrowing requests for example)?
Customized Alma Letters: Fulfillment is putting together a “Letters Template Task Force.” Will they be exploring using XML “If, then” coding to customize letters? If so maybe we should combine efforts in the area of Alma Letters.
Release testing: NERS Enhancement #5659: Resource sharing request roll back was available to NERS representatives in June. Is the CSU a NERS representative? If not, when can we expect wide release? There is also a new “Reactivate Request” feature. What is the use case for this enhancement? We should probably test both. Are there any other new features that we should test?
Any other ideas if there is time. Feel free to add items to this agenda list if you have any.
Discussion topics
Time | Item | Presenter | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
2:00 | CSU+ Loan Period Project | @Joseph Adkins (Unlicensed) | What analytics reports do we need to make? Media materials are a concern. Is there a way we can find out if a person requested an item more than once? Maybe not. Some libraries anonymize their data. How often do patrons keep materials beyond the due date? Interested in looking at distribution of overdue materials. Will schedule meeting to go over analytics reports. |
2:20 | Publicizing “Long Overdues” guide | @Joe Gerdeman (Unlicensed) | Guide is confusing. How long should a lost item stay on a patron account? Should this be separate from the CSU+ Lost guide? Wait until October 3rd to publicize. Investigate fines and fees. |
2:40 | Completed but Not Received | @Natalya Magazino (Unlicensed) and @Mallory DeBartolo (Unlicensed) | How do we identify requests that were turned around in transit? Completed but not received report also includes requests that were cancelled by patron because they also don’t have a received date. Need to publicize rs_allow_action_on_scan configuration. Encourage people to cross out straps on CSU+ returns. |
2:50 | Requests cleanup job |
| What does it do? Should we test in Sandbox? Can’t be undone. @Mallory DeBartolo (Unlicensed) will email her contact. |
2:58 | Alma Letters | @Joseph Adkins (Unlicensed) | Fulfillment committee is putting together letters task force. @Joseph Adkins (Unlicensed) will talk to Kevin. |
3:03 | Release testing |
| We are not a NERS representative and cannot test request “rollback” yet. “Reactivate Request” feature is available. Could be used to deal with “Completed but not received” items. Is request roll back feature on Alma roadmap? Joe, Karla, and Natalya will look at “Reactivate Request” feature. |
