COLD Strategic Plan

@Keven Jeffery (Unlicensed)

COLD is looking to update the Strategic Plan and is looking for input.

  • Cold is working with a consultant to refresh the plan

  • David looking for feedback on strategic priorities

    • “At the very least, probably accessibility (like disability accessibility) and staff/librarian training for exlibris” - Hannah

      • Universally accessible interfaces

        • Accessible for all users, all devices, all means of distribution

      • A commitment to the ADA (508)

    • Technology support (UX, Mobile) to meet students where they are at - Universally accessible interfaces

    • Look for opportunities to share collections, including e-collections, across the system

    • Leverage the common alma/primo interface shared with the Community College and University of California system to increase cooperation between the three systems

      • Leverage the shared search experience and platform to improve the transfer student experience (Student Learning & Success)

      • What they learn in junior college can apply to their experience at the CSU

      • Student Success - recognize our students all three california systems and the library experience could be made more uniform

      • Opportunity for professional development - leverage ECAUG to increase cooperation

      • Leverage economies of scale

    • High Impact Practices

      • Library role in undergraduate research as well as writing intensive courses, first year experiences, and capstone projects, along with communicating, COLD should advocate for the library role with campus research units

      • Advocate for the library as a research partner on campuses

    • Advocate for student success and the integration of discovery tools with other campus resources (like advising)

    • Improving the Digital Student Experience - Integrate Alma/Primo with course management systems, share data across the system to place relevent information (writing center) in front of their eyes

    • Lines between bookstore and library are blurring with equitable access (bookstore leverages library unlimited access collections) - look to coordinate this in a planned way, rather than ad hoc for each unit - https://library.sfsu.edu/ebook-textbooks

    • Integrate librarians into the advising supports

    • Dedicated funding for open access publishing

    • Advocating for the acceptance of open access publishing in the Retetion, Tenure, and Promotion process for faculty
