Competing Needs

Policy Statement:

Items may be checked out to patrons at the owning site even if a CSU Peer- to-Peer Borrowing request has been received, but the book has yet to be removed from the shelf.

Rationale

  • Access to the collection by the staff, faculty and students of the owning campus is given priority over the requests to access their collection by other CSU campuses.

Procedural Clarification

If a CSU+ lending request is in the process of being retrieved from the shelf and a local patron pulls the book from the shelf and brings it to the desk for checkout before the CSU+ loan is processed the loan will be issued to the local patron, regardless of their user group.

Any notices indicating that the item is on hold for CSU+ should be dismissed, the CSU+ lending request rejected moving the request onto the next institution in the rota or cancelled if no other institutions remain in the rota.
