How to relink a POL

Background

This guide can be followed when the bibliographic record on which a resource has been ordered is not the appropriate record and the POL and inventory must be moved to the correct bibliographic record.

The Relink option is available for PO lines with the status In Review, Deferred, Ready (packed into a PO and ready to be sent), or Waiting for Manual Renewal, as well as for unsent one-time closed PO lines. PO lines cannot be relinked if any of the following is true:

  • The PO line is related to the Central Knowledge Base (PO line is an electronic collection). When this occurs, the Relink option does not appear.

  • The PO line does not have an MMS_ID.

  • The PO line contains items belonging to two different bibliographic records.

Step-by-step guide

To relink a POL:

  1. From the results list, click on the ellipsis (…) and choose Relink

2. Search for the desired title and click on it to select it.

  1. A confirmation message will appear letting you know that the POL will be relinked to the selected record, and that the inventory will be moved.

  1. Click on the Confirm button.

Now that the POL and inventory have been moved, you may want to resolve the old record since it no longer will have any inventory or POL associated with it. You should copy to catalog (i.e. unlink from the NZ) and delete the IZ version of the record.
