Claiming for migrated orders
Claiming in Alma is based on the Subscription interval in the PO Line, which represents the frequency of a publication:
Â
For orders that are migrated from Millennium or Sierra, you can use the POÂ Claim tab of the Migration Form to populate more specific subscription intervals (or claiming periods) for migrated orders.
If you have useful information that reflects the interval that you expect to receive a subscription in the CLAIM field in Millennium/Sierra, please continue to use this field and map the values from your CLAIM field on the PO Claim tab of the Migration form to populate the subscription interval in Alma.Â
If you don't have useful information in the CLAIM field in your order records in Millennium/Sierra, you might want to consider
- Using a different order record field that better represents the frequency for a publication
- A MARC field subfield from the attached bib record that represents publication frequency
You should select whichever field best represents the order frequency in a standardized wayÂ
Unfortunately, the migration won't support using a checkin record field.  Whatever field you use must be included in the order record CSV export, which is limited to order record or bib record fields.  If you don't have any useful fields in the order record itself that represent frequency, you could consider exporting the bib record 891|w or a similar field in your order record create lists export. If you decide to do this your Field Mapping form orders tab would look similar to the following:
Â
Then on your Migration Form PO Claim tab, you would enter in the values that are contained in the exported MARC subfield, and the corresponding days that these values represent, like so:
Â
Â
Using a field aside from the default CLAIM field can allow you to populate the Subscription Interval in migrated PO lines with a potentially more useful claiming frequency than the Millennium/Sierra CLAIM field. Â
