Ex Libris / 3M RFID Integration

Exlibris has recently updated the page below to include the latest information about 3M RFID integration in Alma.

https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/alma/integrations/rfid

It is recommended that you place nginx at the root of C: when working on a Windows Machine. The service can be started and stopped using the following commands:

nginx -s stop

fast shutdown

nginx -s quit

graceful shutdown

nginx -s reload

changing configuration, starting new worker processes with a new configuration, graceful shutdown of old worker processes

nginx -s reopen

re-opening log files

Ex Libris / Other RFID vendor Integration

In one of the most recent Alma Release Exlibris added the ability for configuring "OTHER" types of RFID vendors, in addition to 3M and Bilbliotheca.

Exlibris has published instructions for "other" RFID vendors to implement a driver which can accept requests from Alma to switch the security bit of the item being checked in, or out.

Why are we doing this?

  • To ensure that RFID materials can be read by the system, and their status can be changed (checked in / checked out).

  • To ensure that the security gates do not alarm for items that are checked out

  • To ensure that the security gates beep when non-checked out items walk outside the building.

Goals

  • Successfully implement RFID integration in Alma
