PrimoVE evaluation

@Gabriel Gardner (Unlicensed) @David Walker

  • PrimoVE videos

  • Proposed areas:

    • Speed (page load time)

    • Usability from staff side (i.e. ALMA v Primo Back Office)

    • Usability from patron side

    • Results (e.g. relevancy ranking due to norm rule changes - initial reversion to OOTB rules)

  • Campuses Implicated: (FC role)

    • East Bay (Discovery)

    • Fullerton (Norm Rules Task Force)

    • Long Beach (Discovery)

    • Los Angeles (Resource Management)

    • Northridge (Resource Management)

    • Pomona (Resource Management; Discovery; Norm Rules Task Force)

    • Sacramento (Discovery; Norm Rules Task Force)

    • San Francisco (Resource Management; Norm Rules Task Force)

    • San Jose (Resource Management; Discovery)

    • San Luis Obispo (Resource Management)

  • General timeline: look at testing in January and then evaluate the next steps in moving the consortia.

  • Q: (Joanna Kimmitt)

    • Will we want any campus consultation for those with Resource Sharing FC membership? Are there implications for CSU+ that need to be considered in testing that aren’t covered by this membership/representation in sandboxes?

    • A: Unknown. Comments from Mark Braden. Both DFC and RMFC will be testing.

Feedback on DFC priorities

Attendees/community of practice

  • No additional priorities suggested.

  • Q: (Stacy Magedanz) A custom Uresolver feature was going to show CSU+ request and availability without signing in.
Is there a possibility of showing requests without signing in?

    • A: potentially, need to consult with Zach Williams (@David Walker)

Feedback on PrimoVE analysis areas

Attendees/community of practice

  • No additional areas of analysis suggested.

  • The group discussed the timeline and what this means for non-testing campuses. It was restated that everything is emerging right now and not a directive to move to PrimoVE.

  • The group indicated that:

    • Usability from the patron side is important (includes speed)

    • Norm rule changes are important to consider

Discussion: UX/UI for requests/paging/pickup

Attendees/community of practice

  • Lively discussion about various options campuses are pursuing to get content to users.

    • Christina Hennessey provided sample Alma notice letter details

    • San Marcos indicated their lockers are almost ready. They are working on the letters now since they need a different version of the letter for locker pickup and home delivery. All mail to home requests go through ILLiad and all locker pickup requests will go through the Alma hold request workflow.

Other community of practice input

Attendees

  • The system welcomes some new faculty/staff working in the discovery area:

    • Logan @ Chico

    • Hannah @ Dominguez Hills
