Minutes:
1. Scholarworks symposium presentation (scheduled as 15 minutes in symposium schedule):
Carmen Mitchell gave a brief overview of the thinking behind the planning for the symposium; mainly, the planning group’s hope is to provide space for interaction and information sharing, with room for collaborative work. They are hoping to have Zoom set up to allow for those unable to travel to participate as well.
Some ideas were generated about potential presentations relevant to the interest group, including a report back from those campuses that are working on a migration from CONTENTdm. Alyssa Loera (Cal Poly Pomona) offered to present on CPP’s on creation of digital collections for the first time, without migrating from another platform), with a possible collaborative exercise to look at the requirements for the platform, in anticipation of Samvera 2.0 for the CSU.
2. Breakout Interest Group meetings (scheduled for 45 minutes in symposium schedule):
Potential topics for the breakout session: creating working groups to work on system requirements, metadata requirements (in collaboration with the Metadata Interest Group) and the creation of a survey.
Carmen shared the Scholarworks planning group’s initial survey to the CSU to gauge interest and desired features, available online as a Google Form.
3. Facilitator at the symposium:
Due to a planned vacation the current chair will not be at the symposium. Alyssa Loera generously agreed to facilitate the Digital Archives Interest Group, and the breakout session, at the symposium.
4. Meetings:
This will be taken up during the breakout meeting, with the hope of building consensus around a standing meeting time, every other month.
