Task Force
Required Surveys
Report Summary

No action - in a lull while other activities take precedence. Will do more testing within group.

  • Major Goal
    • Create queries available through the Alma Analytics catalog - shared CalState folder for survey questions that can be answered using Analytics
  • Progress towards completion
    • Draft queries have been created for ACRL questions answerable through Alma Analytics
  • Snags encountered or anticipated
    • Ex Libris keeps changing the file structure in the Community Catalog, making these queries very difficult to locate
    • Testing is needed from all campuses, but no feedback received to date
  • Pace
    • All queries need to be ready by the next ACRL cycle (FY 16-17, ACRL survey cycle 2017-18)
    • Will send out a call for further testing again in April–campuses seem to be currently engrossed in data migration, Primo testing, and training
Description

The goal is to help campuses answer required surveys in a consistent way. If significant tuning is required or there is interest in more surveys, additional volunteers will need to be recruited.

This group does need to stay focused on required surveys. Drafting and sharing queries through Cal State for other topics is a worthy goal but should be a separate task force.

Action Items
  • More testing within group. Would love to have other campuses test this, but it's obvious everyone's way too busy right now. Will probably end up revisiting during the summer or supporting the first year of reporting in an ad hoc basis.
  • Need to do more testing on how queries will work if run exclusively from the NZ across all campuses. Can one person do the majority of these reports? How does this affect individual campus responsibility for filling out the survey?
  • Tune queries according to feedback and remove from DRAFT status
  • Note: some queries may need to be revisited once a full year of data is available (e.g. circulation queries have special issues relating to how transaction dates are migrated)
