Discussion topics
We will continue our same meeting date/time next academic year. Stacy will send out additional Outlook invitations. If we need to cancel over the summer, we can do so.
Will change our model contracts comparison so that everyone with the link can view it. If more editing is needed, please let Stacy know.
Gabriel Gardner spoke to the group about InCommon Single Sign-On Authentication Concerns, a document he originally developed for the STIM group. Concern is that InCommon “Seamless Access” is taking authentication out of the hands of the library and IT, and the SSO information could be connected up to individual user accounts with the publishers.
Leslie Kennedy will take concerns to the system level SSO and ISO folks. What sort of user data is being passed on? Campus ID number and affiliation attributes, at least for some publishers; unclear if Level 1 data is being passed on. She noted that we could not make changes to contract without discussing with CSU General Counsel. There may be additional language in Procurement’s contracts that we could draw upon.
Transformative Open Access Agreements: COLD seems to have taken the lead on this going forward, partnering with the UCs and SCELC. Is there a role for the COLIN committee or for ScholComm? Does the UC have a comparable route for librarian input? We will discuss at our next meeting.
