Initial SWOT Review

*Note: This is an initial swot analysys of the various IR Platforms. We can retitle/reformat eventually. - Former user (Deleted)

DSpace:

Strengths:

    • Currently deployed in production with Multi-tenant customizations for the CSU.
    • Established backup integration into Amazon Glacier
    • Turn-key installation/upgrade (without integration of customizations)

Weaknesses:

    • Customization generally require java coding and system rebuilding - complicating upgradability
    • Existing installation is currently 2 versions behind (3.1 vs 5.x) with version 6.x on the near horizon
    • Lack of proper REST API or other external API access in version 3.x
    • Limited cutomization of workflow by community/collection and especially item type

    • Utilizes the fedora platform for repository structure
    • Utilizes Drupal for front end customizations and authorization management
    • Input workflow customizable by item type

Weaknesses:

    • No current turn-key installation

    • Front end display available through blacklight

Weaknesses:

    • No turn-key installation and the most unique technology stack (need to reword this)
