ICPSR Records Discussion

OVERVIEW:

Some of you may have a vague memory of Amy Kautzman asking (Dec 2016) for our ICPSR records to be placed in our central catalog (when it comes up) so that these great data sets can be searched for, found, and accessed in a central location. We did this work in the UCs and it did not appear to be a heavy lift.

This data set is available to most of our campuses and it is managed by:

It appears to be a slightly heavier lift in the CSUs, but Brandon has continued to work the margins and I recently received this email:

Amy –

After *many* months of working with ICPSR and Ex Libris trying to get ICPSR’s non-compliant metadata to load into Primo, I have been successful in loading a batch of their metadata into our sandbox Primo.

Who should I work with to move this further along? Who can validate the metadata and let me know if it is still of interest?

ACTION: John, is this a ULMS project in tandem with knowledgeable catalogers? We want to ensure that the records are shared systemwide. I’m not quite sure how to move forward with a ULMS/cataloging problem. Do not remember addressing this sort of issue system-wide.
