Revised memo to COLD re: CSU-wide undergrad journal

Melissa

  • Discussed recent conversations in COLD and the Scholarly Communications Committee regarding a potential CSU-wide undergraduate/McNair Scholars journal

  • The memo is intended to clarify that we are not and will not be in a position to launch such a journal this year

  • Melissa and Dana will be attending the December 8 COLD meeting to address further questions

Revised ScholComm work plan

Melissa

  • Melissa and Dana met with Mark Stover and Michele Van Hoeck last week, and Melissa subsequently revised the work plan to better reflect our various projects

LORDS

Jaime

  • Best approach for web presence?

    • Confluence is probably the best approach for this.

  • Others are still welcome to join the LORDS group

  • First pilot review session will be held in early December; four campuses will be involved

  • COLD has expressed interest in this project as well, and Jaime will hopefully be attending the December 8 COLD meeting

OJS for conference proceedings

Pam and Kyle

  • A group in the Agriculture Department at Chico has a Journal of Regenerative Agriculture (running on OJS) and is interested in migrating to CSU’s OJS platform; this is in addition to the climate change conference proceedings. What support is available?

    • Dave is the contact person for setting up a journal and helping with technical migration questions. The Publishing IG can provide support with broader questions about the platform and best practices.

      • Conference proceedings will involve additional work; student support would be helpful.

      • We may want to revisit the PKP’s Open Conference Systems again

Open access documentation / Elsevier gold OA pilot

Melissa

  • Elsevier should be sending the author documentation videos any day, but they will need to be restricted to CSU users; Melissa is working with Dave on this

  • Melissa will send information about train-the-trainer sessions as soon as they are confirmed

Open Access Week plans

  • Cal Poly Pomona LibGuide

  • Dominguez Hills LibGuide

  • San Francisco State is hosting a Black Lives Matter Wikipedia edit-a-thon for faculty
