We have configured our circulation desks in Alma to issue an email receipt whenever anyone returns an item – see Configuring Alma Letters, Managing Patron Services and Configuring Circulation Desks for how do it. As for borrowing, our self-check machines have the functionality built in, so our users are given the option of choosing a receipt or no receipt. If they elect to get a receipt, they are then offered a choice between print and email. (We have Bibliotheca smartserve 1000 self-checks.)
