"Actions" for saved queries

5876

There currently isn't a way to perform many "actions" on saved queries like there is for saved records. Current options are limited to creating an RSS feed of the query or setting up a weekly email alert. Entries in the "Saved Records" section allow actions to be perfomed such as printing and emailing a list of results. We'd like the ability to email the search with a click (rather than set up an alert), as well as the option to print the list (in a printer-friendly format). The ability to export to Zotero/Endnote/Refworks would also be welcome options.

Virginia Commonwealth University

A full RESTful API with CRUD for interacting with saved user records, tags, saved searches, etc.

5829

This would facilitate integrations with a diverse set of complementary systems used by library users.

New York University

A well formed service level API that could be used to translate code table/PNX values to JSON name/value pairs

5840

We would like to be able to store API Keys and javascript variables (mainly link templates) within code tables to improve inter-operability of customer addons. This would allow broader usability of customer provided addons by updating institution-specific baseURLs and addon options into a common vocabulary easily edited and redeployed without having to upload customization packages.

New York University

Ability to administer synonyms via BO

5514

The systemSynonyms and userSynonyms files are only available via the command line so SaaS customers have to request changes be made via SalesForce. This is cumbersome and affects all institutions on the MTE. It would be easier to administer if the ability to view systemSynonyms and download/upload/deploy userSynonyms be in the BO. see also: http://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308176-primo/suggestions/14934135-ability-to-administer-synonyms-via-bo

Ability to prevent non-reserve items from impacting availability in course reserve scope

5803

For some of our course reserves, we have an additional copy of the item in another location. As a result, when users perform a course reserve search in Primo, the availability of the item is always "available" even if the course reserve copy is on loan. This causes confusion for users and circulation desk staff. We would like to be able to optionally configure the course reserve scope so that items in other locations are not taken into account when determining availability in the course reserve search tab.

University of Connecticut Law School Library

Ability to Run Blank Search with Limiters

5846

We would like the ability to run a blank search with facets/limiters selected. For instance, we’d like the ability to run a search for e-books within a certain LCC classification, or search for all of our demand driven acquisition books within a certain LCC range, without having to place a text character in the search box. We would like this ability on the front-end (in Primo), as our faculty often need this feature as well. The new SFX journal search menu already offers the ability to pick a subject and/or provider and run a search without entering any search terms, but we would want Primo to offer more browse options than this. For the browse options that are made available, it would be critical to be able to use all the facets that display in a regular Primo search.

Colorado State University Libraries

Ability to share favorites

5604

We'd like to see a more robust favorites area, with more options for configuration. One thing in particular we'd like would be the ability to organize lists of favorites, then to share those with other users. We request the ability to organize items in My Favorites into folders that can be shared with other library users so that then that folder can also exist in their My Favorites

Add "Send To" function to the Full Record Services Tab of the View Configuration in Primo VE

5859

We would like the ability to easily move the Send To service on the Full Record Display. For example we would like to move it below the Get It Service on the Full Record Display since feedback we have received is that access and location to the resource itself should be prioritised over the functions that are part of the Send To Service. Currently Send To is not one of the services that are listed on the Full Record Services Tab of the View Configuration in Primo VE so the only method that we can use to move this service is using JavaScript. Since all other sections of the full record does appear on the Full Record Services tab of the View Configuration and can therefore easily be moved we would like Send To to be added to allow us the ability to easily change the order of the entire page.

Add "Starts with" Functionality to the Call Number Field in the Advanced Search

5490

We have built an advanced call number search. However, the "starts with" functionality doesn't work for call number field in advanced search. We would like to add "starts with" functionality to the call number field in the advanced search.

Add a breadcrumb trail to Primo New UI

5855

We have had to add a New Search and Library Home link to the top banner in the New UI, however we are finding that in the New UI that there are a lot of links in this top banner not only because we have local links to content such as our LibGuide but also a lot of the functionality of Primo (such as Tags, Collection Discovery, Citation Linker etc) are listed in these links. Since there is a limit to how many links display (one or two on smartphones, up to about 5 or 6 on most desktops) these links drop behind the elipses icon and only display if you open the full link menu. Users tend not to open this full link menu which means some links/functionality is not being used. An easy way to help with this issue is to add a static pseudo breadcrumb trail to the new UI. Breadcrumb trails are pretty standard in most websites, and will allow us to remove the New Search and Library Home link from the top banner links. Currently the only way to do this is via a JavaSccript hack however it could be something that was added to the link configuration in the Links Menu in Primo VE and function in a similar way (appears on the top banner throughout Primo). Essentially the breadcrumb could easily be a list of static URLs that we add to the configuration in Primo VE (for example our Insitutional homepage, our Library homepage and, the Primo Landing Page) which is then displayed in Primo UI under the Library Logo and stylised to resemble a typical breadcrumb trail (ie Insitutional URL > Library Homepage URL > Primo Landing Page URL).

Add Go to End of results list

5488

Currently, users can jump back to the start of a list of results, but they cannot jump ahead to the end.

University of Rhode Island

Add link from 'My Account' screen to 'My Saved items' screen

5677

Currently, to go to My Saved Items screen from the My Account screen, the patron needs to locate the pin at the upper part of the screen. It would more convenient if there would be a link to My Saved Items, as an additional item in the menu: overview, loans etc'

University of Haifa Library

Add Show Actions icons to My Favorites

5821

Option to add all the Show Actions icons to display on My Favorites, or at least some icons such as the print and e-mail icons, instead of just the ... Please see screen capture attached.

Stellenbosch University

Add user's ability to select multiple items for renewal at one time

5493

When a user renews their loans in Primo they can only choose to renew one item at a time, or choose to renew all. We would like to give the user the ability to select multiple items to renew at once.

University of Hong Kong Libraries

Add/remove/reorder additional sections into the services page (i.e. the full details page)

5831

Add/remove additional sections into the services page (i.e. the full details page). This will allow libraries highlight services specific to their institution’s users.

New York University

Additional browse indexes with support for thesaurus hierarchies

5378

The Browse section of the PNX supports only author, title, subject and callnumber browsing. Unlike search and facets there are no local fields. We propose that a good number of local browse indexes should be supported (e.g. 20). The browse indexes have support for non-preferred and preferred terms (except in title browse). We would like broader, narrower and related terms to be supported as well, to allow full exploitation of thesauri. Use cases include specialist collections that institutions are including in the discovery platform. For example at Durham University our museum materials are included. There are several aspects for museum objects such as the Object Category (e.g. Vases, Swords, Hats), the material it is made of (e.g. Wood - Hardwood - Oak, Metal - Bronze) and other aspects like the place of production, the time period it dates from, etc. We also have collections of biological specimens where indexing the species, genus, family would be helpful, especially if users could browse the hierarchy of terms. Because in many cases these terms and indexes apply only to a subset of the records in our systems, it is helpful to the user to have separate browse indexes to make it clear that the indexing is limited to particular classes of records. Navigating a thesaurus is a very good way to explore non-book collections. The enhancements could also be applied to book materials via the broader and narrower terms in LCSH, so this enhancement would be of wider benefit.

Advanced Search: Can the New UI be configured with multiple different Complex Search Lines in Advanced Search, as in Classic UI?

5874

Multiple Complex Search Lines are possible in Primo Front end, however, multiple *different* Complex Search Lines are *not* currently possible in the New UI. https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Knowledge_Articles/Can_the_New_UI_be_configured_with_multiple_different_Complex_Search_Lines_in_Advanced_Search In the Primo Back Office, you can select a different default option for each complex line, yet this only applies to the Classic UI. Can the New UI be designed so that multiple different complex lines can be added to an advanced search, and you can have different default options selected for multiple complex lines?

All patron identifiers (including ID barcode) exposed in JWStore when user is logged in

5843

All patron identifiers (including barcode) available in JWStore. frequently, when trying to write customizations, the patron barcode is not included as part of the user information exposed in JWStore. Without this information, it is impossible to create an NCIP connection without performing a second lookup back to the ILS for this information.

Allow an institution-level Search Engine configuration for display/type field

5560

Enhancement Request: Allow an institution-level search engine configuration for display/type, in order to allow local refinements of ranking of records from multiple sources. The November Primo release brought ranking changes intended to improve author name searches. The changes, however, have led to poor blending between Local and Primo Central results because of a display/type variation between Local and Primo Central results. If institutions had the ability to configure ranking and blending for local records, we would be able to improve the usefulness of our results sets for our local community.

Portland Community College

Browses: add See Also and Usage info from authority headings

4460

Primo supports display of See references (not same as See Also) in browse headings, if those cross-references are in the bibliographic data ingested by Primo. There is no capacity to display See Also and Usage info from authority records, which are important so that users understand how and why certain terms, especially subjects, may be used. We propose that See Also and Usage info display in the Browse headings. It's possible this enhancement could be achieved through application of an API that interacts with Library of Congress systems. Display of narrow/broader terms would also be highly valuable.

Harvard University Library - E

Change My Favorites Pin location in Item Details to Actions Menu

5581

In the New UI, the pin to My Favorites icon in the Item Details page displays in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. We propose that the pin icon appears in the actions menu, as pinning is an action.

University of Washington

Change the record ID methods for Tags and e-shelf

5814

For Tags and e-shelf, the records ID is the dedupmrg number for merged records. We want to use the individual record ID for the group. This will ensure that records will always be pointing on the right record even if all the records are deleted and reloaded. The dedupmrg number is different when we reload all records.

Universite du Quebec Network

Change where links from brief results take user in full record

5548

In the new UI, we'd like the ability to customize where within the full record display the brief results links take the user. For example, clicking the title from the brief results takes the user to the top of the full record page, but clicking the availability link takes the user to the availability section, moving bibliographic information off the screen.

University of Montana

Create/configure pretty URLS in the Back Office from the root to institution views

5830

Create/configure pretty URLS in the Back Office from the root to institution views, for example: myprimo.school.edu/inst => myprimo.school.edu/primo-explore/search?vid=INST

New York University

Custom CSS/XML/Code/Mapping Tables for Emails generated within the New Primo UI

5877

Currently, there is no mechanism for modifying the contents/display of results emails out of Primo (New UI). These emails can be generated using the "Email" icon in the Actions bar, or by creating a saved search alert.

Virginia Commonwealth University

Deduplication of local and PCI content

5842

We have some PCI collections and we have MARC record sets from OCLC. Currently, we have to make sure that the collection is turned off in PCI before adding bib records from WorldCat collection manager (in order for this material to be visible in browse). ideally, we would like all title-level collections to be visible in browse or allow us to load marc records into the local repository so that this material is available in browse. As it is, if we have a PCI target turned on and a MARC record exists, there are 2 or more results in the search result set for the same title.

New York University

Default display of the sort type in Loans list

5675

We would like the label indicating the type of sort in the list of loans to be displayed upon the display of the screen. Currently there is no indication on what kind of sort is used to display the list. Preferably, the default sort and label of the 'sort by' column would be "Sort by: Due date - earliest to latest" .

University of Haifa Library

Display 3 items from the hidden menu (the three dots) in the saved records screen

5678

Currently the three dots menu in the Saved Records screen is enabled (and highlighted) only after choosing items from the list. Even then the patron cannot know what actions are available for him through this icon. We would like to display 3 available actions and have the rest hidden under the 3 dots icon (as is for the brief display)

University of Haifa Library

Display pre-filters used as search limits in the facet column

5679

Currently, when using pre-filters in the advanced search screen, there is no indication to that, except in the search boxes themselves. It would be very useful and clear to the patron what filters he has used for this search if these filters would be displayed in the facets column, used to display this kind of information (ie limits applied to the search). This will be even more important once the pre-filters will be introduced in the simple search screen, as planned.

Enhancements for the Search Expansion Service

5813

Search Expansion Service was first introduced in the August 2017 release and generalized to local data with the February 2018 release. It expands searches with words and phrases that constitute variations of the search term with the same meaning and thereby increases the accuracy of the user's search. This feature is based on vocabularies such as LC subjects and MeSH. We would like the Search Expansion Service: (1) to be extended to other languages (notably, but not limited to, German, French, and Spanish) where similar vocabularies exist. (2) then to also work on corresponding English terms when searches are made in other languages (if English equivalents exist in the used vocabularies).

Extend limit in Primo top navigation bar

5880

The top navigation bar in the Primo New UI only allows for 6 visible items. A user must click on the ellipsis to view additional options

Facet value "online" cannot be excluded in the new Primo UI

5827

We found, that the value „Online“ cannot be excluded in the facet topic in the new UI. All other values in this facet and in all others can be excluded. Ex Libris' answer to a case for this issues was: "Exclude facet should not be available for Online resources by design. Primo unfortunately does not support this type of results filtering." We find it is not logical that one single facet value cannot be excluded whereas for all other facet values the function exists.

Fix indexing of words with hyphens (e.g. hand-book, etc.)

4457

Words / adjacent words with hyphens are not indexed properly. They can be retrieved with the hyphen, or as two separate words, but cannot by retrieved if you omit the hyphen and compress the word/s. This is a general problem, in English and other languages (for example the word "chat-room" is currently indexed as only as "chat-room" and "chat room," but not as "chatroom"). It is especially a problem for Korean name transliterations, as well as older material with different compound word conventions (e.g. hand-book, by-law, year-book).

Harvard University Library - E

Improve the date filter in the New UI, to make it clearer that a user can type in the date as opposed to clicking the arrows

5871

Improve date filter – the current date filter includes default ‘From’ and ‘To’ dates with up/down arrows. Although it is possible to enter dates manually this is not intuitive. We have feedback that our users think they can only use the arrows to alter the date one year at a time. We would like to see the default dates removed so users have to enter their own ‘From’ and ‘To’ dates. This would make the date filter consistent with many other search interfaces that our users will be familiar with.

Improve the visualization of temporary sanctions in Primo

5598

Improve the visualization of temporary sanctions in Primo: It should show the information of the book by which the user has been sanctioned: title, type of sanction, creation date, expiration date, order by newer, etc.).

Expania, Asociacion de Usuarios de Ex Libris en Espana

Improve visibility of physical library holdings in default Primo search

5805

Article level citations for physical holdings from the Primo Central Index should be discoverable in the default Primo search, without the need for expansion. At the moment, only those PCI citations which match electronic holdings are displayed, unless a user selects the checkbox to expand the search and 'Include Results with no full-text'. To support this enhancement, the institutional holdings file published weekly to the PCI should include physical holdings and coverage, in addition to the current electronic holdings and coverage. A new Availability Status should be assigned such as “physical_available_no_fulltext”, with a meaning of “Based on the holdings file, the institution has physical holdings for the record”. PCI citations with this availability status should appear in the default search without need for expansion. It is desirable that they also be able to support the use of relevant dynamic facets such as Library, for example </facets><library>61UQ_SSH</library> via <display><availlibrary> The option to enable the deep search plugin for Primo Central to ‘Include Results with no full-text’ does not fulfill this need, as it results in the default Primo search including all PCI citation records in activated PCI collections, regardless of electronic or physical holdings.

University of Queensland

Improved Control Over Page Scrolling

5848

Currently, users scroll through subsequent pages by loading more results in a bulk load of 10 at the bottom of the page. This is unwieldy, gives little control over page scrolling, and also fails to return a user to their place in the result set if a FRBR group is opened and then the version filter removed to return to the full results set. We would like more options for page scrolling. In particular, we would like users to be able to select any individual page in the results and view records without losing their place in the list. Currently, it is very difficult to switch between pages. The pagination widget is hidden in the corner and only shows options of one or two surrounding pages on each side, or advancement by up to five pages. The constant scrolling makes it extremely difficult to keep track of which records have already been viewed. Pagination would be helpful.

Improvement to My Favourites area of Primo

5854

We would like to enhance the functionality of the My Favourites area with the following improvements. The date added should display for pinned items in My Favourites. This would enable users to better organise and keep track of their pinned items. In particular, the sort by date added function is rendered somewhat meaningless without the date added actually displaying on items. We would also like to provide users with the ability to search their pinned items within My Favourites. This would enable users to quickly locate pinned items, particularly useful when dealing with large lists if items.

The University of Western Australia

Improvements to display of call number information in item details

5858

Recent user experience testing that we have conducted has shown that it is difficult to distinguish the call number among the other pieces of information in the item details record. We would like the ability to configure areas of the item details to better distinguish call number information. Firstly, the ability to add brackets around the call number or bold the call number under Location Items in the Get It area of the full item details page. This would be consistent with the appearance of the call number in the Availability statement at the top of the page, which currently places the call number in brackets. Secondly, in the holdings information container, labelling the call number as ‘Call Number:’, in the in the same way that material type and location are labelled. This would present the information in a consistent way, and make the call number more obvious. Thirdly, to make the information in this container configurable so that we have the ability to hide certain pieces of information based on resource type. For example, we would then be able to hide the barcode for journals, which users confuse with the call number.

The University of Western Australia

Improvements to PCI administration

5857

We would like to see several improvements to how the PCI is managed. In particular we would like: - More details about each collection on the PCI page (such as number of resources, types of resources it contains). - Audit trail/history of collection management within the PCI - it would be useful to have date stamps for when we turn on a collection, and turn off a collection and the ability to add notes or tags to indicate reasons for turning on/off - A more streamlined approach to reporting issues with PCI metadata to ExLibris either within Primo itself or in the PCI.

Imrpove useability of exclude/include facet options

5852

Based on recent usability testing of the new UI we have found that our users appeared to be confused about how to include and exclude facet options from their results set. One of the main pain points seemed to be that they did not know that they were able to exclude a specific facet option (for example to exclude English items from the results set most of our users ticked all options under the language facet other then English rather then just excluding the English option). At the moment the option to exclude only appears when someone hovers over the facet option, and it appears on the right of the text of the facet option. Although the option to include a facet also only appears when the mouse hovers over the text of the facet option because it appears on the left of the text it is more obvious, as users will be reading left to right, then something that appears after the text. We feel the overall usability of the exclude/include facet option functionality could be improved by: 1. Moving the exclude option so it is next to the include option on the left of the facet options2. Both options are made static so users are aware there are filtering options without the need to hover over the text of the facet option3. Currently a tool tip exists for the exclude option, but there isn't a equivalent tool tip for include. We would like a tool tip to be available for both options.

Include a weblink in the librarian profile for resource recommender

5835

We have scheduler links for each librarian to make appointments, but the library resource for resource recommender does not allow for a link as contact information. Please change this.

New York University

Include holdings when using print button

5844

When using the Primo print button, location and call number are given, but not the holdings information, so patrons lose the information about what volumes exist and which locations they would be in. Having that included would be very helpful.

Colorado State University Libraries

Inclusion of New UI top banner links in Primo Analytics Action Usage Report

5853

We would like the links on the Links Menu that appear in the banner at the top of the screen in the new UI to be harvested into Primo Analytics and to be included in the Primo Action Usage Report. Ideally we would like usage information to be harvested for both links created by ExLibris (such as Tags, Browse etc) and also links that we have added to the menu (for example a link to our LibGuide). Obtaining usage information for these links will not only be very useful in determining which links we include in the top banner but also the order of the links.

The University of Western Australia

Indexed Syndetics content instead of displayed Syndetics content

5839

Rather than just having displayed syndetics table of contents and author information, syndetics unbound should be an enrichment process that runs as an enrichment plug-in. this keeps information from being published out, but allows authors of anthologies and chapter titles to be discoverable via search. We typically have chapter titles being searched for as title searches. ideally, links to book chapters should also be enriched within the details area of full display.

New York University

informative text for non-extendable loans in the user area

5866

Within the loans section a patron can extend its loans but there is no (extend-link) if a book is not extendable. While this is called "smart fulfilment" users often ask why there is no extend-link for a certain resource. The patron should be informed about this by giving him information that there is already a loan or wether the maximum lend is reached. In the classic UI there is already an informative text saying that the resource is not extendable but this is currently missing in the NUI.

Interlibrary loan request button in brief display and full display.

5486

We would like to add a button in Primo when student clicks request button if the book they requested is not available, it will give them choice to transfer to iLLiad interlibrary loan website. I checked Primo interoperability documentation. If we use ALma, this problem will be easily solved. However, currently, we use Voyager+Primo.

Make facet values sortable by quantity and alphabetically

5865

Currently Primo admins need to decide if a facet, e.g. creator or topic should be sorted by quantity or A-Z. This is hard to decide in beforehand as the user may be search for a known item (A-Z is best) or looks for the most active creators in a field (quantity is best). All facets, e.g. library, subject, material type... should be sortable like this by the user to support its discovery experience.

Freie Universitaet Berlin, Universitaetsbibliotek

Make links from PNX:links includeable to brief display

5867

A Primo Admin should have the possibililty to display certain links from the PNX-links section in brief results. We propose to bring this information into the same row as the peer-reviewd icon in the brief results. Some examples that will be valueable to have in the brief results are: A linkt to the: - table of contents (PNX: links/linktotoc), - abstract (PNX: links/linktoabstract) - review (PNX: links/linktoreview) - custom local link fields (PNX: links/lln01-lln50) respective icons for each link type (e.g. TOC) might be useful as well.

Freie Universitaet Berlin, Universitaetsbibliotek

Make parts of a keyword clickable to support downdrill and updrill simultanously

5864

Keywords in MARC 6XX Catergories often contain multiple subfields provided by subject indexing, e.g. 650 _0 |a Witchcraft |x Law and legislation |z Kenya |x History |y 20th century. Displaying all subfields results in precise subject chains, that often return sparse results <subject>Witchcraft -- Law and legislation -- Kenya -- History -- 20th century</subject> We propose a function that makes parts of a subject field clickable if there are special word boundaries (like "--"). Additionally there should be a button/icon that indicates the user to search with the precise subject chain. The user benefits with fewer clicks to get relevant records, and the subject section wouldn't look too overcrowded.

Freie Universitaet Berlin, Universitaetsbibliotek

Make Primo Central Collections includeable into local scopes

5863

To create specalized search scopes, e.g. for Audiovisual or Open Access materials it would be valuable to make each activated Primo Central Collection selectable for a scope in the Backoffice. Currently only local resources can be part of a scope.

Freie Universitaet Berlin, Universitaetsbibliotek

Move Peer Reviewed into its own facet group

5608

The peer reviewed facet is currently grouped in the availability facet group. However, it has nothing to do with the availability or the other items in the availability facet. This grouping is confusing to our users and we are constantly being asked why it is considered part of availability. We propose that it become its own facet group as it doesn’t make sense in any of the other facet groups.

Multiple digital collections interfaces per institution

5841

Multiple digital collections interfaces per institution. We have multiple digital asset management systems within our institution. we would like to federate up to 5 per institution into a single digital collections portal.

New York University

My Account - Loan and Request by default should show activity from all institutions instead of just home institution

5817

when a patron navigates to My Account / Loans show loans from all institutions in their Fulfillment Network rather than requiring the patron to use the institutional dropdown at the top of the screen. Do the same behavior on the Requests, Fines/Fees, and Blocks screens. The institutional drop-down could still be offered if a patron wants to limit the screen to show only those from a particular institution, but by default loans (or requests or blocks) from ALL institutions should be shown.

My Favorites: add warning before unPinning

5644

There should be a warning when you want to unpin an item in My Favorites, especially when you unpin all selected items. Users have come to expect an "are you sure?" warning in similar applications such as RefWorks and Pinterest. This is very important because there is no "undo" option. Once you have unpinned, on purpose or by accident, there is no way to retrieve what you unpinned, no history to show what you had pinned, and no way to undo the action. In Pinterest, before deleting a pinned item the UI gives you a popup with "Are you sure? Once you delete a Pin, you can't undo it!" More than one of our users has unpinned all their Favorites by accident, and there is no way to recover from this.

ELUNA Primo PWG

My Favorites: while pinning item, allow user to choose label

4462

When a user pins an item to My Favorites from the search results or detail view, the item goes to My Favorites without a label. Users would like to choose the label at the time they pin it. Otherwise, they have to pin things, then go into My Favorites and go through all the things they just pinned a second time. By this time the user may not recall the specific reason they pinned it. We would like My Favorites to work similar to Pinterest and other similar tools, where the user can assign a tag/label as they are pinning, which is when they know why they want to save the item for later. If they can't do it while they are pinning, they will have to perform additional actions later to assign labels, and try to recall why they pinned the item at the earlier time.

Harvard University Library - E

My Favourites - multiple selection for tagging and requesting

5820

We would like the 'Push to' actions in My Favourites to be expanded to allow the addition of tags to multiple items at once (i.e. assign the same tag to a group of pinned records) and to request/ place holds to a group of multiple items at once.

OAI Pipe date options to facilitate CONTENTdm automated harvesting

Our goal is to have the pipe that harvests the OAI feed from CONTENTdm to run automatically either weekly or monthly. However it is a known bug with CONTENTdm that if the collection is large, and if a small date range is used with the OAI data feed, then the process is likely to hang. The current workaround with Ex Libris is to manually set the start date to 100 years ago, and then run the pipe. The enhancement I would like is enhancing the Primo pipe configuration to either add a.) A checkbox which adds the option of not automatically updating the start date after each run OR b.) A checkbox to remove the date altogether from the pipe run and just use the continuation tokens to iterate through the whole collection Either would enable this pipe to be setup to run successfully, automatically.

Opensource the entire primo-explore app package

5836

Rather than focusing on the continuous production of documentation, we believe that the master /primo-explore application (templates, directives, controllers, and components) should entirely be made available via GitHub, not just the customization kit that institutions use for branding and small customizations. if that is not possible, we request documentation on a component by component basis regarding what conditions a component appears and when it does not and what available hooks exist for customization (particularly within the full-display display area)

Primo RSS feed formating

5562

Technically RSS feeds created by Primo are working. But from a content perspective the feed is a mess. Therefore I added a request to the Ex Libris idea exchange with detailed information where the feeds need improvement. https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308176-primo/suggestions/32206204-put-useful-data-into-the-rss-feeds-created-by-prim With the NERS enhancement 5381 the community and Ex Libris were looking into possibilities to map PNX elements to the Citation Style Language (CSL) to offer more flexibility with citation export for reference management. It seems to me this is a quick win when applying this mechanism also to the setup of RSS feeds from Primo. But of course it's up to development to come up with an idea how to make the RSS feed items more meaningful.

Primo ‘pinned items’ email - remove "online access" link

5603

When primo emails the link of an item without fulltext access or with questionable title, it sometimes substitutes a link titled "Online Access" in the emailed results that goes to the full details screen of the PCI record. This is confusing for patrons since it rarely is something they have access to. Libraries should be able to edit the online link text (via mapping table label) or should be able to remove it in the default email template. The title link provided in the email allows users to access full-text for a resource, as well as see alternative request options for resources that are not available full-text as well as view additional item information. Removing “online access” would not affect overall functionality of the email message, but would make the emails much more understandable. please see example below.

Provide bibliometric information in results (e.g. times downloaded)

5869

We propose to have bibliometric information within the results (brief or full). This would be valuable to support users in estimating relevance. Some examples for statistics that may be provided: * times viewed * times saved to favorites or exported * times downloaded (online) OR times requested (print) ((There should be an option to select time spans for the stats 6 Weeks | 12 Months | cummulative))

Proxy Service for External APIs

5582

For developers adding custom services to Primo, it would be very useful if Primo offered some sort of built-in proxy for external APIs. Originally we conceived of this feature because we wanted to interact with Alma's User and Request APIs from client-side code in Primo. Ideally, however, this feature could be configured for any external API.

Remove Resource Recommender once the patron uses facets to refine the results list

5680

The Resource Recommender is displayed in accordance to the search terms. This is displayed as long as the patron is using the results list, and continues to be displayed even after narrowing the results list with facets. We would like the resource recommender to be displayed only once, after the initial search, after which it should no longer appear, until a new search is performed

Remove the Primo API IP whitelist

5722

Please remove the IP whitelist as a requirement to access Primo's API. Many modern websites are served through cloud infrastructure without access to a dedicated IP address. This system prevents websites in the cloud from using the Primo API. Furthermore, malicious users can easily spoof an IP address. Thus if an attacker knows a websites IP address (which is public and easily obtainable) they can very easily spoof the IP address to gain access to the Primo API. A key exchange would be a more secure method that would not exclude websites on cloud infrastructure.

Report a problem link/form at the record and search level

5849

It would be useful to have a link that a user can click on to report a problem accessing a certain resource or when completing a search. The link could direct to a simple form that allows the user to comment but also automatically captures information from the Primo record including citation information, browser, OS, search terms and other things helpful for troubleshooting. Upon submission the form could submit the information to an email address.

Resource sharing requests submitted through Primo check against holdings and alert user to possible matches before submitting request

5860

It is common to receive resource sharing requests from users for items that are already available in Primo. It would be beneficial to both the user and library staff if Primo was able to match the information entered into the form by users with holdings and identify items which might fulfil the request, similar to a Find Item search. This match would be done before the request is properly submitted through to Alma. If a match was found, users would be presented with an alert with text like 'Is this what you were looking for?' and the option to either proceed with the request or go to the item/s presented by Primo. Only if they confirmed that the item found did not meet their needs would the request go through to Alma.

Scoped PCI activations

5800

For special libraries who share Primo with their university, being forced to use a single set of PCI activations is a detriment to the quality of search results. At a law library, users conducting legal research should not have their results flooded with article titles from other academic areas. Allowing individual libraries to choose their own PCI activations for their scope would improve search outcomes for those users.

Search scope/slot/profile usage in Primo Analytics

5851

We would like to be able to report the total number of searches that have been performed in each search/slot/scope/profile that we have configured in Primo. Currently the only report in Analytics that has Search Scope search information is the Zero Results Report. This information will provide invaluable information about our user behaviour and will help us in the customization of the Primo interface to meet the needs of our clients by assisting in decisions regarding adding or removing search profiles/scopes. We realise some reports (eg Primo Action Usage) do include usage of search scope type (Blended, Local, PC/Deep Search) this does not necessarily correspond to our local search profiles/slots.

Searches based on a range of call numbers (for creating Alerts and more)

5670

We would like our users to be able to define an alert in primo, based on a range of call numbers – for example: lc = "ds67->ds79.99" So we would like to create searches on a range of call numbers.

Secondary sort in facets when facets have same number of items

5367

Currently, Primo shows the items in the facets (e.g. the subjects facet) either sorted alphabetically or by the number of items. However, it seems to order the items randomly when the number of items is identical for several different subject headings in the facet. It would be beneficial to be able to configure a secondary sort option for these items.

Secondary sorting of records in the results list

5366

Primo is designed to sort the results list by one parameter only (relevancy, title etc.). Currently, it is not possible to define a secondary sort. Thus records with the same ranking will appear in no particular order. It would be beneficial to be able to configure a secondary and third sort options. For example, first sorting by Relevancy, secondary by Publishing Year and third by Title.

Select Multiple Brief Results for Requesting

5617

Short Permalinks for Records and Searches

5845

The current permalinks for records in Primo are too lengthy to easily send to users, especially when using a service like Ask Us! via text message. (example of current permalink: https://colostate-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/primo-explore/fulldisplay?docid=01COLSU_ALMA51237660740003361&context=L&vid=01COLSU&search_scope=Everything&isFrbr=true&tab=default_tab&lang=en_US) We would like to see short permalinks under the “Send to” permalink option. Additionally, we would like to see a short permalink generator option for searches performed in Primo, as this would be helpful in providing research assistance to our users. However, shorter permalinks for records are the top priority.

SMS Messaging item details within the Primo New UI

5724

We frequently have users who lookup items in our Primo Local scopes and they would like to send a detail information to their phone which would help them located the item on the shelf. Currently, this feature does not exist in Primo New UI. The support for classic UI only for primo local customers not for cloud-hosted. Here is the list of enhancement we hope to achieve for this request: 1. There would be a way to send detail information about an item from Primo to phone with a button in the standard action menu. It will support multiple providers and additional providers via API. 2. We would be able to turn on this feature in PBO without extensive programming. 3. If a user is not logged in, but the IP is in the institution space or user is logged in, text messages can be sent to a phone. If a User is not logged in and IP not in the range, text message page will have recaptcha verification. 4. (Optionally) send bulk messages from their e-shelf. 5. Proposed content in SMS but should be customizable. Title: (1) Call Number:(2) Library/Location(3) | Collection StackmapURL(4) if physical item (shortURL) Customizable LinktoRsrc (5) if online item (shortURL)

Sort date of FRBR groups in result lists

5492

When sorting a brief results list by date, obviously always the sort date of the earliest member of a FRBR group is taken to represent the whole group. We would expect that in sort order "year (ascending)" the publication date of the earliest member record is taken, and in sort order "year (descending)" the publication date of the latest member.

Tabs configuration in new UI: restructure tabs to avoid confusion

5850

The New User Interface of Primo handles tabs more poorly than the classic interface does. The classic UI’s presentation of tabs led to a desirable visibility of an alternative scope option, a visual indicator that a different scope was available. Testing with users revealed that they understood the tab layout in the classic UI, and understood what to expect by clicking on the the non-default tab in Simple Search. If tabs are configured in the new Primo UI, it leads to what can be a confusing and repetitive display of scope information involving multiple pull-down menus to the right of the search box in Simple Search. In Advanced Search, the confusion increases: making a scope selection in the pull-down menu does not change the selected radio button listing tabs, so a user has no way of confirming which scope they are actually searching. We request that the new UI’s tabs configuration be reviewed and a visual indicator of the tab be removed from the search bar. It would be much more clear for users if any non-default tabs were still visible as choices, rather than hidden in a pull-down menu, where the default scope is the only visible value.
