COLD has charged a “SWAT team” to work on a cost-benefit analysis focused on the feasibility of moving from twenty-three ScholarWorks instances to just one instance. We are not looking at direct costs only, but also what do we gain and what do we lose in terms of functionality, content, quality, and flexibility.

The team will survey the IR practitioners in the CSU and consider the organizational and technical issues involved before making a recommendation. The team will be led by David Walker, Director of Systemwide Digital Library Services at the CO, and made up of members of the STIM committee (chaired by Karen Schneider, Dean at Sonoma State), Curt Asher (Dean at Bakersfield), Tracy Elliott (Dean at San Jose State), and IR specialists nominated by their deans (number to be determined). COLD is expecting a status report in December and a final recommendation in February 2019.
