Quarantining Returned Items
Develop procedures:
Determine when items will be quarantined (pre or post check-in)
Quarantine for a minimum of 3 days before shelving or loaning
When possible, do not stack items. Stacked items may need up to a 6 day quarantine per REALM test 4.
Quarantine items away from high traffic areas
Use gloves and mask when handling books, wash hands frequently
Advertise check-in and requesting expectations in notices, near book returns, on webpage, and other public areas (i.e. All returned items will be quarantined for up to one week prior to being returned)
Refer to the REALM Project for more information.
