Here’s a brief update on ScholarWorks and some upcoming events.

Digital Repositories Committee

The DRC will soon have some openings for new committee members. Watch for a call for self-nominations in May. Terms start in July and are for two years.

Save the date! The annual CSU Digital Repository Meeting will be on July 13th and 14th from 10 AM – 2 PM. Registration information and the agenda will be available soon.

ScholarWorks

Development

We are continuing to develop and test a number of customizations to the submission forms, including composite author fields, rich text-formatting for the abstract and title fields, pull-down menus for date fields, and a three-tiered discipline field / facet.

We also now have a fleshed-out workflow for batch metadata updates.  And, in the coming weeks, will be completing some work on the date facet, improvements to Google Scholar harvesting, a new workflow that revokes edit access for depositors, and context-sensitive file download messages for restricted or embargoed files.

Data migration

We’re wrapping up auditing tasks with each campus to ensure that all records and files from DSpace that were slotted to migrate to the new ScholarWorks have been successfully migrated.

Next steps in the process will include (finally!) redirecting Handles for migrated records to ScholarWorks, hiding migrated records in DSpace, and the next round of data clean-up.

Open Forum

To hear more about these updates and other projects we’re working on, make sure to check out the Digital Repositories Open Forum the first Friday of each month from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM.
