• Updates from December Digital Repositories Steering Committee meeting

  • Subcommittee working on call for submissions

  • December DAWG meeting was cancelled

  • Will begin a report on the state of the DAMS project in the new year

• Updates from the Work Forms Task Force (Dave sent these via email):

  • Have met four times, and are working through some proposed changes to the forms.  We’re planning some longer meetings in the new year to make faster progress.

  • Dave plans to present a set of proposed changes to MWG for feedback at the Jan. 20 MWG meeting.

• Pam suggested that we could work on clean-up together to get things started. Melissa will ask Dave about adding 30 minutes onto the January Open Forum to demonstrate the batch metadata editing process and allow everyone some time to test it out. Consider doing this on an ongoing basis.

Revisit 2020-2021 Degree Name Recommendation

  • Recommendation from last year: Change help text to “Enter degree name in capital letters with a period after each letter.  For example, M.A. or M.S.”

• Melissa completed an https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MDime5vhy5XuaZeo8GTcGkZFn3H4y6Pu-WaNhZYfHvY/edit?usp=sharing and she and Ryan met to discuss it. They shared their recommendations:

  • Carry forward the MWG’s recommendation for Degree Name from last year (i.e., to abbreviate degree name and leave free-text)

  • Create a new, free-text field for Program Name

    • Shared example of Digital Commons record with separate Degree Name and Program Name fields: https://ir.lib.uwo.ca/etd/8028/

    • Noted that we may not want to include Program Name for non-ETD student works (once we have a separate work form for those)
