Rapid ILL Lending Notes

All

  • RapidILL Lending Notes

    • 2 Drop In Q&A sessions will be scheduled for September

22nd.
  • Are there any last minute things that the ERM committee will need to do to prepare? Quick check-in.

    Cleaning up ERM Wiki

    All

Identify topics/themes and split up the work of reviewing/reorganizing documentation, how-to, and best practice pages
  • Greta Heng emailed ExLibris (Laura West and Dawn Devine) to see what kind of support they could offer on this topic). Review any replies received.

  • If we can’t get volunteers, the committee may need to do some investigation/testing and then present something themselves

    Future ERM Open Forums

    All

  • Others options for potential ERM Open Forums?

  • Should they be regularly scheduled or adhoc?

  • At the last meeting we identified “Licenses” as a future topic for an ERM open forum.

  • If this is feasible, pick a day/time to host. Is anyone willing to take the lead?

  • Possibly create and distribute a survey to the CSUs to gather information on use of the license feature of Alma.

  • Identify campuses that have made full use of it and see if they’d be willing to present.

  • Goal 1

Decide on the frequency and content of the forums, along with a set day and time every month.

Discussed holding open meetings twice a month. Possible options include:

    • 2 drop in type sessions (no pre-planned content, just opening the Zoom for anyone who has questions). Most likely on Fridays. We could do ad hoc presentations on other topics as needed

    • 1 drop in session and one session with rotating topics (either ERM updates - similar to Jessica’s ERM updates emails) and/or guest speakers or presentations.

    • 1 regularly scheduled meeting that combines ERM updates and a drop in session into one, with the option of having a second meeting if we have a topic to present on?

If we choose the second option, would we want to have the presentation/updates meetings on a day other than Friday? Less Fridays meetings the better…the drop ins are more casual, so leaving those on Fridays seems ok.

    Goal 2

Get a presenter (or two) for a forum on Licenses in Alma

Doesn’t have to be related to the RapidILL lending note. Hoping to start small and find someone from a library who can share their general experience with getting their library/unit on board with utilizing the licenses area. AKA - Why it’s worth it (or not worth it) to enter licenses, what were issues they encountered, tips they learned, they’re reasoning for displaying (or not displaying) the terms in Primo, communication between collections/acquisitions and ILL/ERM related to license terms, etc…

Ann Roll helped me with an NZ Analytics report that shows which campuses appear to have made at least some significant use of various areas of Alma licenses:

    • San Luis Obispo

    • Fullerton

    • San Marcos

    • San Diego State.

Maybe we can start there are see if anyone would be willing to speak/present.

    Goal 3

Determine how we’d like to solicit topics for future open forum presentations/guest speakers.

    • We discussed having the committee identify topics we think are of interest, or need to be addressed, and reaching out to people (both in the CSU and out) as possible presenters.

    • We could also put out a call for topics that the CSU would like to discuss, but we would also need people to volunteer to present in that case as well. The committee members may not have the time to present on the topics without outside help.

Additional projects to work on this year

    All

    • What else does the committee want to accomplish?

      • Establishing some sort of mentorship for new CSU ERM folk was briefly discussed.

      • We’d like to find some way to preserve/pass down some institutional knowledge related to consortia ERM in the CSU.

      • TBD…(ran out of time last meeting).

    • We decided we have enough for now with the Open Forums, Licensing project, and reorganization of the wiki.

Control the Ability to Ignore Title Based Link Resolving

    Jessica

    • New feature added in August release that can deactivate “fuzzy” searches in Alma for Primo. Fuzzy search is the default, if there is no match on identifier or title, a fuzzy match is enacted on a possible title match. Can be deactivated.

Follow up on issues with “Exclude CDI eBooks” setting

    Lucy/Greta

    • CDI records for eBooks still displaying despite being turned off. Is this something other campuses are experiencing? Does anyone have a fix?
