Vision & Mission DRAFT

Charge

The Scholarworks Planning and Advisory group is designed as a working group in order to facilitate development of goals, documentation, and best practices as we move into the next phase(s) of the projects offered through ScholarWorks. The STIM IR Subcommittee report was published 3 years ago, since then we’ve worked hard to bring all hosted DSpace instances under a single platform and maintain a high level of availability and improvement. At the same time, while DSpace versions continue to advance, the open source IR offerings have greatly improved. This advisory group will review all available options with respect to the needs and goals of the CSU IR as a whole in order to recommend, test and deploy the next generation of the Scholarworks IR platform. In addition to traditional repository platforms, additional projects are becoming more necessary, such as for the CSU Institutional Repository system, ScholarWorks. This team is also responsible for scoping and migrating to a suite of repository services that will support CSU scholarly communication initiatives. This Advisory group will be a STIM Subcommittee with the following charge:

  • Continue supporting CSU’s Institutional Repository Platform while also planning for future innovation.

  • Stay current with ongoing developments and innovations for Institutional Repository platforms. Share this information with the CSU system.

  • Evaluate and recommend complimentary services and platforms (eg. Open Journal Systems (OJS), Open Conference Systems (OCS) and Open Monograph Systems (OMS)

which
  • , and Scalar) that support CSU scholarly communication objectives and fit well into the ScholarWorks support structure.
