Meetings

The CSU Implementation Team (David Walker, Alice Kawakami, Rae Ann Stahl, Patrick Newell and myself) have begun biweekly phone calls with members of Ex Libris’ implementation team and management. During these calls, we will work together to form the agenda for the project kickoff meeting in October as well as discuss initial questions we have about the project generally.

There are two important meetings coming up – the Working Group Leads kickoff meeting on September 10 and the project kickoff meeting on October 5.

The September 10 meeting will take place at the Dominguez Hills campus and all Leads are invited to attend. Attendees will receive the charge for their group and begin to set the working group agenda for the fall, after which we expect to kickoff working group discussions around best practices and identifying areas for systemwide collaboration within each functional area.

The October 5 meeting will take place at the Chancellor’s Office. The Ex Libris project manager and implementation team members will be onsite to introduce themselves and review the project timeline and main concepts behind the Alma/Primo architecture. We are still finalizing our invite list but expect the contents of this meeting to be most relevant to campus project managers.

Forms

Your campus project managers should have received forms from me regarding the current configuration and use of your ILS as well as what optional data migration choices your campus is interested in. The information in these forms will allow Ex Libris to configure your instance of Alma/Primo to support your current needs and to know what data to expect to migrate for each campus.

These forms are both due to me by Tuesday, September 1

Website and Mailing Lists

A friendly reminder to those of you who have not yet checked out either our project website (http://ulms.calstate.edu) or working group mailing lists should take the opportunity over the next few weeks to do so. These will be the primary communications methods for decision making, project scheduling and documentation and generally having a hand in shaping Alma/Primo for the CSU! My previous email had instructions for subscribing to the mailing lists, but the addresses are also available on the website under each functional area.

Office Hours

David and I held the first of our monthly office hours on Friday, August 14. We plan for this to be an opportunity for you to ask us about anything and everything ULMS-related. Come see us at our next meeting on Friday, September 11 at 10am! Recordings will be available if your schedule conflicts.

ELUNA sent out an early message about next year's conference.  If possible, I highly recommend attending this conference.  There is a lot of information about the Ex Libris products and especially a lot of helpful information on ALMA and Primo from both Ex Libris and other libraries.  There is a technical seminar held before the general conference where you can get some hands-on training on Ex Libris products.  I learned a lot from the seminar and the conference.

Announcement:

Although the temps are high and summer is in full swing, it is never too early to start planning for ELUNA in the spring!

The ELUNA and Ex Libris planning committees are working hard to make sure the Ex Libris Technical Seminar and ELUNA Meeting in 2016 are a success.  To help your planning efforts, registration prices are now available on the ELUNA website (http://el-una.org/meetings/eluna-2016/) and at the Ex Libris Technical Seminar site (http://www.exlibrisgroup.com/category/TechSem16).

The ELUNA website also now has a checklist capturing key dates and activities (http://el-una.org/meetings/eluna-2016/) to help your plan for the event.
