Receive an Item with no Barcode
Some CSU+ circulating items like microfilm and microfiche may not have a barcode. To receive such items:
- Search for the item by title in the Resource Sharing Borrowing Requests queue to find the current status of the request. The lender may not have “Shipped” the item, or they may have shipped the item using the External Identifier as the barcode.
- In either case, click More Actions (••• button) or right click on the request and select Receive. Copy and paste the External ID into the Temporary barcode field and press “Go.” The item has now been received using the External ID as the barcode for circulation.
- If you want to make it easier for the item to be checked out at the circulation desk, use a barcode font to print the External ID onto a sticker label and adhere it to the CSU+ book band/sticker. Otherwise, write a note on the book band/sticker giving instructions to type in the External ID for checkout. This is a little tricky because the External ID on the book band will have a number and two backslashes as part of the External ID (lenders External ID) and the External ID you want to use for circulation will have the first number and backslashes omitted (borrowers External ID). So if you are doing a note, white out or cross out the first number and backslashes to reduce confusion at checkout.
