1. Use the  Add Item option in the icon menu
2. Or, use keyboard  shortcut Alt + I
3. Or, go to Tools > MARC21 Holdings > Add Item
4. The Physical item editor opens. Encode the following fields, as appropriate:
   
   1. Enter barcode
   2. Encode Material Type (select  appropriate type)
   3. Encode Provenance (select appropriate "method of acquisitions")
   4. Description, if applicable. Used for multi-volume sets to indicate volume numbering (e.g., v.1)
   5. Enter barcode (this step Saves and Exits item record).
5. Click Save
