Manual & How-to Guides
  • Discussion centered on best approaches for editing Manual and division of labor. Committee agreed that Training Manual should be an overall guide to train staff, and should cross-reference policies, procedures and best practices adopted. Manual should be supplemented by "How-to" guides which will serve to outline specific step-by-step instructions on various procedures for resource management.
  • Next steps: Add links to existing documents in relevant parts of the Manual. Create some "How-to" guides to identify format and best practices.
Priorities

Priorities identified (focus on functionality and features in Alma which are not currently used and warrant investigation):

  1. Reconvene Authorities Task Force to revisit authority work in a consortial environment and explore the use of some of the functionality in Alma in support of authority work (e.g., Link BIB headings).
  2. Explore potential impact of the upcoming new Alma Metadata Editor to work and workflows.
  3. Explore and/or request enhancements to functionality in support of workflow efficiencies (e.g., creation of holdings & item records at the point of exporting records from OCLC, etc.)

In addition, Committee will organize a presentation about Bibframe.
