Background
Policy Statement
The loan period of 1 year more adequately meets the needs of research faculty and better accommodates those on sabbatical and instructors who teach only one semester out of the Academic year. Faculty typically require library material longer than a single semester and unnecessarily burden staff when they contact the Library to facilitate renewal of overdue material. This takes extra staff time and is not always convenient for the Faculty. The proposed change in policy formalizes what is a common occurrence without the additional steps, delay and extra work. Currently faculty and staff have different loan periods on some CSU campuses, though there are staff who are also involved in research and some who are teaching faculty. We suggest making the loan periods the same for all staff and faculty members for a more equitable policy and to better serve the needs of all CSU employees.
Policy Statement
Allow all faculty and staff to check out local main stack items for a minimum of 1 year.
