Policy Statement:

CurrentOriginal: Either 30 days (short) or 60 days (long).

  • No automated renewals.
  • Each campus determines what material they will lend for 30 or 60 days.

Proposed Change: CSU+ items will be loaned at the following rate: 60 days (long loan) for books and 30 days (short loan) for media items. Exceptions can be made for rare, expensive books, or slightly damaged items

Final Approved: All CSU+ items will be loaned for 60 days.

Additional Rationale:

  • Providing a standardized and consistent policy and loan period to all CSU patrons, regardless of which CSU library is supplying the material would also reduce confusion for library users and staff.

...

  • The recommended loan periods are 60 days for books, 30 days for media. For different reasons some libraries would prefer longer loan periods (90 days or even the entire semester for books) while other libraries would prefer shorter loan periods (30 days for books).  Therefore, 60 day loans for books is a compromise that should be suitable for all members, even campuses that are on quarters.
